EHE News: The Mountain Man is on the move

2024-04-23

Late last night and after several weeks of talks the Calgary Flames and the Montreal Canadians completed another deal between the two clubs.

The Calgary Flames get Andrei Kuzmenko, Joel Armia, and 1.5 million dollars.

While the Montreal Canadians get Anthony Mantha, Zach Parise, and a 2025 2nd round pick.

When reached this morning GM Stephen had this to say, “we looked at our team and felt we needed to give them a further boost. With Patrik Laine out and the when the opportunity presented itself to acquire Kuzmenko we got down to work. Numerous ideas were discussed with GM Matthew and we finally settled on this deal. Taking on a salary this large is out of the norm for myself but over the term of the contract we should have no issues with our cap.”

“What we like about Kuzmenko is his ability to not only score goals but his ability to pass the puck and play both wings. Which should help the top 6.”

“Moving Mantha was tough considering what we gave up getting him and he did have an immediate impact on the team, but we felt it was time to move on from the big guy. As for Zach, he was a great leader in the room and unfortunately for cap reasons he needed to go the other way to help Montreal. We wish both guys the best.”

“We are hoping to have both Kuzmenko and Armia in the lineup for the second game against St. Louis in our back to back. When we spoke with both Kuzmenko and Armia on the phone this morning they were both excited to join the team and help us push for a playoff berth.”

Welcome to Calgary Gentleman!
