What's Old, Is New Again.

Vegas, NV //   45 Vegas Golden Knights rolled into town with smiles on their faces just over a week out from Christmas as the EHE season is springing to action in late December.  A new season is upon us in the city of sin, and the three-time Pacific Champions are excited to finally get back out onto the ice and back into action.  It would seem that even the man himself, Kris Kringle is sprinkling magic upon the Golden Knights as they gear up for camp finally opening up.

"Fuck right off, " replied a whimsical Brad Marchand as he entered the Golden Knights home of the T-Mobile on a cool Friday morning.  Asked if this is the gift Santa finally brought him the three hundred plus goal scorer offered, “I’d punch him right in the fucking mug if I could at the moment.”

The future EHE Hall of Famer was joined in physicals, rituals, and threats against Santa Clause in a the normal first day of training camp at the T-Mobile Arena in downtown Las Vegas.  While the salty Marchand was holding court, all eyes were really on team Captain Kris Letang.  Having suffered a second stroke of his life just a month ago, the Captain spoke:

“My (two) kids, they don’t care if I’m a hockey player or not. They care about me being a dad. Same thing with my wife. She could care less about hockey. She knows that there’s so much more, and after hockey there’s a long time. We want to be able to enjoy those moments with your family, with your kids.?”

“It was hard, but … we’ve been through this.”

The Captain then led the Golden Knights in their first on ice session of camp.  Right behind him in line was the other heart and soul of the team, Patrice Bergeron.  Many feel that this may be the last go for the core group of VGK alum, but you would not have noticed it by the pace that was being set within the first five minutes of camp.

“We came close last year, but I think with the moves the team made in the off season that we may be overall better.  Losing Ovie is big but gaining David (Perron) and getting JVR back might make us better in the eyes of SimonT”, Patrice Bergeron spoke after the first on ice session.

“I think this is the group that can do it.  Everyone is talking about the Metro being the toughest division.  I would rank the Pacific as the toughest in the West.  LA, Calgary could play against any of those teams any day of the week. It is also going to be a bloodbath night in and night out.”

A bloodbath.  A perfect description on what the season shall be in 2023.

New for 2022 is the "Prospect Road Trip"Finally, after five years, the Golden Knights have acquired enough prospects to challenge the best in the NCAA.  This week 22 Vegas Golden Knights prospects have left their respected teams and joined together for a week of bonding in three vans as they travel America together.  All based within the mind of the VGK GM, the future VGK's are traveling together to Arizona and Colorado to battle the best the NCAA has to offer.  More information should become available as this becomes an idea for the future VGK prospects.

A punch in the mug if he's lucky, especially considering it's Brad Marchand.
