Coyotes' Scholl to step down at end of season

“One last time.” (Sing it in George Washington’s voice if you are familiar with the “Hamilton” soundtrack).

“This will be my last run at an EHE Championship”, said Arizona Coyotes’ general manager, Tim Scholl said tonight in a hastily called press conference to announce his resignation at the end of the playoffs. “I had a great eight years here in the Elite Hockey Experience and I have enjoyed every season, but I believe now is a good time to move on”, added Scholl.

Scholl’s team just wrapped up the 2021-2022 President’s Trophy with one game left to play. The Coyotes also have a four goal lead in the running for the Jennings Trophy with one game left for them as well as for the Kings.

The playoffs are tentatively scheduled to start on Tuesday night in Arizona against the Calgary Flames. The team has made the EHE playoffs now 5-out-of-8 season including this one, but getting results in the playoffs has been an issue for the club under Scholl’s management. In the past three straight seasons, the team has been ousted in the first round of the playoffs, with each game going a deciding game seven. In their only other playoff appearance in 2016, that team was also knocked out in the first round, and in only five games.

“One last time.”

GM Scholl is a member of the inaugural of the EHE. For those wondering, no, Scholl is not a Coyotes’ fan. When he joined, he was the last to enter and was given the last team available. But he has been proud to try to put the Coyotes logo to the top of standings board, even if it is a just a sim league.

I would like to thank every GM that I have participated in this league for the last 8 years. I will miss talking trades with you guys. I apologize if I was ever difficult in trade talks. Lol. And a special thanks to the Commissioner Kevin. I appreciate all the hard work you have done for this league for the last 8 seasons plus the hard work before the league even had its inaugural draft.
