Time to say Good-bye
2020-02-09From the desk of Doug Waite (February 9, 2020) :
Three years ago, I threw my name into the running of becoming the first ever General Manager of the Vegas Golden Knights, after a dreadful first half season with the San Jose Sharks. At the time I did not know what was going to happen, and where things would go. I knew that I wanted to create a winning culture for the new EHE Golden Knights, and with their AHL affiliate the Rapid City, Rush.
A first season led the Knights to the Gretzky Conference Finals. The second, a first round exit to the Dallas Stars. For Rapid City, a first round exit, followed by a second round exit, and dwindling attendence. Things deserve to be better for the Vegas franchise, and not all of the levels have been lived up too.
So, with that, I have to say good-bye.
Good Bye to Rapid City.
The rumors are true baby!!! Pending league approval, the Vegas Golden Knights plan to relocate the Rapid City Rush to Henderson, Nevada. The plan is for the "Baby Knights" (no team name has been given yet) to play in the 9,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Paradise, Nevada, the Orleans Arena for two seasons. After the two seasons are up, they plan to move to Henderson, Nevada and play in an all new state of the art facility.
If plans do fall through with the Vegas AHL move, the plan is for the Vegas to find a new Western Conference home for 2020-21.
More details to follow in the coming weeks.
