Red Wings Draft Recap

2019-07-25

The Detroit Red Wings entered the 2019 draft with 7 draft picks. With having all their original picks and having the last pick in each round after winning the Stanley Cup, hopes going in was that talent would somehow slip down to them at the end of each round.

Their goal for later rounds was to find some DITR picks and be able to plug them into their NHL roster or their AHL roster but a lot of the good ones went earlier in the draft.

We had an extra 4th round pick from a trade we did with the NY Rangers last season sending them Tomas Jurco and Mitch Callahan for (COL 4th round pick)

Few days leading up to the draft we sent Steve Santini to the Buffalo Sabers for their 5th rounder (COL 5th round pick)
