A Little More Seasoning

2017-06-05

Yes.  Yes it is about time the Philadelphia Flyers made the playoffs.   Flyers GM Mucyk" No team ever enjoys losing.  There were a couple of things our organization had hoped would happen this past season, strides certain players would take.  We'll how things shape up after Free Agency and what happens at next years training camp."

The strides that the Flyers Gm spoke of must be referring to what he had said the team hoped to see before the start of last season regarding some of the organizations prospects.   Hopes that Dylan Strome would be able to make the jump to pro hockey and fill in a slot as one of the Flyers centers in the 2017-2018 season.  Expectations were he would be able to slot in ass their #3 center, with hopes that he could play his way into the 2nd line center spot.  Dman Mikhail Sergachev who has high potential, was seen as a guy who was ready to make the jump right into pro hockey, with hopes the team would see him in the EHE come the 2017-2018 season.  However neither of those scenarios played out as the organization had hoped with both teams returning back to junior hockey for another year.
You can also add to the hopes from last season that feel short, the season of Darnell Nurse, who actually had a pretty good season (although a shortened NHL season that was less then satisfying) the organization still feels he can be much better as they hold much higher expectations for the youngster born in the great city of Hamilton Ontario.  Dman Rasmus Andersson was another youngster that held hopes, albeit a longshot at this time, but the organization had it's fingers crossed that Rasmus would make a smooth and quick transition into pro hockey.
Heading into next season compound the above with the loss of Nikita Tryamkin who is making the jump back to his homeland for the KHL and probably Valeri Nichuskin who is also expected to be KHL bound and needing a new contract.  ( I did read a recent article that was talking about why there would not be a better time for his return to the NHL, which also pointed out that Mr.Ruff, his mortal enemy, is no longer behind the Stars bench.  Also setting the stage for NHL Mortal Kombat).
LWer Pavel Buchnevich, RWer Connor Brown and center Radek Faksa are all expected to make the team out of training camp next season, and slot into one of the teams top 3 lines.
Now the team has a deep pipeline of prospects.  A #1 franchise goalie in Matt Murray.  They do not want to replay the Oilers rebuild story from the final NHL years, and be stuck in rebuild limbo.  Rumours have started to enter the hockey world, as some say that Philly might be moving the Bruins 1st rounder at the draft.  Others have heard whispers that the organization is considering moving Captain Gabriel Landeskog, but these are only rumours.  They may have even been started by a fellow GM from around the league in an attempt to start a rumour fire, in hopes off smoking Landeskog out of Philly, or lighting a spark in the GM's head.  Or even by the evil Commissioner Kevin Lacy in a final attempt to banish Gm Mucyk from the EHE.
However the biggest question floating around the Flyers organization is...Who's name will cause a stir at this years EHE entry draft.  This rich and full of Philly steak sauce tradition started back in the NHL day's when then GM Bobby Clarke "from the Quebec Junior League, wait I forget."   was continued last year when current GM Mucyk called out Jasper Bratt instead of Jesper Brett (stupid auto correct when I was making my list, I missed that 1)  Stay tuned into this years draft as the Flyers organization supposedly updated their tech, but rumours have their auto correct going backwards in efficiency.

Next article will focus on the Flyers at the 2016 draft, as well as other prospects within the organization.
