Red Wings at the 1/4 Game Mark

The Detroit Red Wings have been so so to start this new season. Even though they don't have one of the best forward group out there they do have one of the best goaltenders and one of the top 4 defensive units. So better things were predicted for this team for this upcoming season.
Only four players have really chipped in offensively so far, Draisaitl who is leading the team in scoring with 22 points in 21 games. Schmaltz got hurt early on in the season but has 12 points in 14 games and would most likely be sitting closer to Draisaitl's output were it not for the games he has missed so far.
Newly acquired Schenn has shown some flashes but still needs a little more time to gel with his new mates. So far his 14 points in 21 games is not bad but he does lead the whole team with a +11 so he's playing a great in both zones. Trocheck continues to be a realiable guy year in and year out and sits tied for second on the team with 7 goals and 10 helpers. If team does start to move out pieces, rumors are he will one of the first players to go especially with a nice rerate coming up.
Hellebuyck currently sits with a 10-4-4 record, he just hasn't had the help of his team putting up goals to steal some close games and with 4 overtime loses this team could be sitting higher up in the standings.
The defense has been doing their part and chipping in on offense. Hughes is on pace to for a career best as he is currently tied for 2nd in points with Trocheck with 17 points. Fox and Theodore are close behind with 13 points a piece.
Special Teams
The Wings have been horrendous in this category with their PK is sitting 3rd from the bottom at a sad 77% and their PP sitting at 22nd with a 13.7%. If they are to make a serious run this year these are 2 categories they really really need to improve on.
