Off Season News - EHE 2023 Draft
2024-01-21As we enter into the 2023/24 season, let’s take a quick look at the Calgary Flames' moves over the off-season. Starting with the EHE 2023 draft.
Entering the draft, GM Steve had only 1 pick, as he had traded the rest away to help the guys throughout the season and into the playoffs. So leading up to and during the draft efforts were made to move back to gain more draft capital. However GM Steve was unsuccessful, which didn’t bother him much as he knew he was going to get a good player at pick 26.
So with pick 26 the Calgary Flames were proud to select Calum Ritchie, a forward from the Oshawa Generals.
Ritchie stands at 6 foot 2 inches, is a right-shot centerman, and has great hockey sense. In his draft year, he had put up 59 points in 59 games. Currently, he is on pace for 84 points in 51 games this season.
From all reports, he is the kind of player who can make things happen. So we felt he would be an excellent addition to our roster one day while securing a center depth for years to come. How can you not like the center depth of Elias Pettersson, Mason MacTavish, Shane Pinto, Alex Turcotte (who was recently acquired), and the great other prospects we have in the system?
Welcome to Calgary Calum.
