Moving On

2023-07-09

The beer hasn’t stopped flowing in Calgary as both the Calgary Wranglers and Calgary Flames moved onto the second round of their respective playoffs. Ok maybe the Calgary Stampede has something to do with that as well…lol.

During the first round, Elias Pettersson led the way with 4 goals and 3 assists with Elvis Merzlikins posting a 2.00 GAA and a .930 save percentage for the Calgary Flames in their series against the Seattle Kraken.

While Adam Boqvist led the Wranglers with 2 goals and 6 assists, Mads Sogaard posted 2.54 goals against and a .940 save percentage in a 3-game sweep of the Grand Rapids Griffins, who lead the AHL Western Division with 103 points and were second-overall in the AHL.

GM Stephen had this to say, “I’d like to give a shout-out to GM Brandyn and the Seattle Kraken for a hard-fought series. As for the Wranglers we never in our wildest imagination pictured the result. A 3 game sweep. However, as we look forward to the second round, the team will need to continue playing their game as things will get tougher. We would also like to thank GM Cisco for a tight series and acknowledge his great season with the Griffins”

As we patiently wait for the next round, the players from both the Wranglers and Flames are resting and preparing for whoever there next opponents will be.
