Wolves Become the Hunted
2019-06-21Game set match. The Barracuda had them selves a smorgasbord of Wolf for breakfast lunch and dinner. It feels as if the series started only yesterday and yet San Jose has come away as Western Conference Champions after a very quick 4 game sweep of the Chicago Wolves. Unfortunately, it is just not meant to be here in Chicago once again, always the bridesmaid never the bride. Not quite able to get over the conference final hump. Hats off to Kyle and the incredible team he has built in San Jose and we wish them luck in their Calder Cup journey, they are almost there.
Chicago played in front of their biggest crowd of the season once word got out that the St.Louis Blues and Chicago Wolves were unable to come to an agreement on an extension to remain affiliates. For guys like Rocco Grimaldi and Connor Carrick locker cleanout day is going to bring with it a heavy heart.
Carrick and Grimaldi are both scheduled to make the jump to the show next year leave behind them some incredible AHL careers. Although Carrick does have 1 more waiver free year. Carrick currently sits 1st in AHL games played, AHL assists and shots blocked and 6th in PP Goals. Grimaldi currently sits 1st in goals, 2nd in points, 2nd in GWG, 3rd in PPG and 3rd in shots all time.
The Blues organization would like to thank all Wolves players for their time and dedication this past season and hope to see them in training camp next spring.
Rumour on the street is the Wolves are very close to signing a contract with another NHL team so do not fear the Wolf will still be here….in the AHL. As for St. Louis, it looks as if they are down to a few candidates and will hopefully have something concrete signed at some point shortly
