They let WHO manage the All-Star teams???

2025-04-21

For the first time since 2020 the EHE will be holding All-Star Weekend festivities, and it seems the league, or perhaps the Hockey Gods, aren't without a sense of irony.

In a matchup that seemed destined to happen, Kyle Phillips of the New York Islanders and Eric Wolf of the Nashville Predators were chosen as the GMs to lead the two All-Star squads that will face off this weekend.

Yes, the two general managers perhaps most famous for failing to get the best out of their all-star calibre rosters will now be running two literal All-Star teams.

Some oh-so-clever pundits are already wondering if this could be the first 0-0 tie in the history of the All-Star Classic.

Wolf, for his part, seemed content to steer into the skid.

“It’s an honour to be selected for the All-Star game," the Preds GM told reporters at the league press availability. "And at the rate things are going, it may be my only chance to win something around here.”

“Maybe McDavid will finally be a PPG player.”

Phillips, meanwhile, struck a more hopfeul tone.

"I'm thrilled to have been selected to manage on All-Star Weekend," said the Isles head honcho.

"Even since my days in San Jose I've been hoping I'd get a crack at this gig, so it should be lots of fun."

Whatever the outcome of the game, the return of All-Star Weekend has already been a success for the EHE...even if it will leave one GM feeling they've added to their legacy of underachievement.
