Flames break local Calgarians Heart
2024-08-29During the 2024 EHE draft the Calgary Flames General Manager, Stephen Gough, broke the heart of local Calgarian Taylor Hall. Hall was seen running down 17th Ave crying uncontrollably anyone who did not know him could easily have mistaken him for a cowboy who was late for the Calgary Stampede.
Hall was sent to the LA Kings for a pair of picks in the EHE Draft. A return that some would feel is underwhelming however as luck would have it. Two players fell into GM Stephens lap that he was keen on.
With the 96th the Flames selected defenseman Viggo Gustafsson and with the 127th pick, the Flames selected forward Stephen Halliday.
Both players may not have the pedigree of the former 1st overall pick, but they sure bring some promise and depth to the organization. The bonus of shipping out Hall was the ability to shed his remaining 3.52 million dollars per season for the next 2 years. Money that could be used elsewhere and freeing up some cap space.
Time will tell how this works out for Calgary, but someone should tell Hall he needs to leave home and head to the bright lights of LA.
