Flyers win in Battle of the Metro Titans (Part II) 2023-07-21 The Philadelphia Flyers reach their 3rd Conference in three seasons with a 4-0 win against the New Jersey Devils. They now await the winners of the Florida Toronto series. Game 4 in that series will be played tonight. The Flyers were led by a scintillating power play going 6 for 12 (50%) over the course of the series and 4 for 4 in the two games at Wells Fargo Arena. Justin Faulk was particularly impressive putting up 4 assists whilst registering +7. New Jersey will feel particularly dissapointed with the result especially considering how strong they've been all season. Ultimately they will look at their goaltending (0.877 sv%) and lacklustere special teams performance (11% PP, 50% PK) for reasons why things fell apart at this stage of the season. However, the club can hold their heads high - it was a fantastic 82 game season and they'll always have the Presidents Trophy banner aloft in the rafters of the Prudential Centre. Special kudos to GM Ryan Knedel. His aggressive pursuit to improve the roster and compete in a highly competitive Metro division certainly paid off. Mr Knedel will certainly be on my ballot for GM of the Year come awards season and his appraoch can be a lesson to other GMs that anything is possible if you are willing to take a risk. Kevin LacyIn the first two rounds, Philadelphia had to take down the only two teams higher than them in the standings and they did it. That's gotta be a scary thought for anyone else remaining.Flyers win in Battle of the Metro Titans (Part II)Philly sweeps Devils to reach Conference Finals• 1 teams Like this 1 year
