Training Camp opens up.
2022-12-16Hope, that seems to be the key word going around training camp as the St. Louis Blue embark on another EHE season. There is hope that this year Blues fans will once again be able to see their team play in an EHE playoff game. But before we go and put the horse in front of the cart, lets examine where this hope came from. For starters the usual extremely frugal Blues management team finally spent some money in FA and went out and traded for some veterans to help guide this team. Not to mention re-signing some key RFA’s in the off season as well.
For starters, during the summer months St. Louis made a big splash by obtaining a much needed winger upgrade when they went out and trade for feisty winger Travis Konecny. They were not content with stopping there and they also brought in via trade Eric Comrie and Jeff Carter. Comrie is slated to back up Hart but in a pinch he has proven to be a capable starter and he comes with a very low cap hit. Carter was brought in to provide leadership to this group and give them the motivation to play hard every night to obtain a playoff position. Some assets obviously had to be shipped out to get thes kinds of players in and we wish those players nothing but the best in their future within the league.
Like mentioned earlier one of the biggest surprises was watching St. Louis spend come actual cold hard cash during the silly season. They managed to wrangle in 3 players with contracts totaling a combined 49.5 Million. These players were brought in to fill certain holes management saw within the depth chart to help them reach their goal.
As pre season begins this is what the Blues projected lines will look like on opening night. Obviously there are a few spots to be had within camp so I expect these guys to battle it out. It is nice to have some depth within the organization.
