Kings Hire New GM
2021-07-24The Los Angeles Kings called a press conference to announce long time GM Brandyn Errickson was leaving the organization. Local media were called back to the Staples Center today to announce the hiring of Max Kurtz as the new General Manager taking over for the departing Errickson who will be taking over Seattle as the EHE’s newest franchise.
Kings Ownership thanked Errickson for his efforts & commitment to the Kings organization and wished him the best in the future before introducing Kurtz as his successor & turning things over to the incoming GM.
“I’m really excited to get this opportunity to manage the Kings. I was approached to gauge my interest in possibly taking over and I jumped at the chance. The foundation that is in place here is exciting to me & the Kings are in a great position to become a consistent Stanley Cup contender. That’s the goal for all EHE organizations but some are closer than others, I feel the Kings are one of the closer clubs plus who doesn’t like living in Los Angeles!” joked GM Kurtz.
When asked about where he sees the Kings at, “There’s a great core group here lead by Steven Stamkos, this roster has a lot of great top end pieces that are hard to find, but once you get them it’s a matter of filling out the rest of the roster with guys who can chip in both offensively and defensively on any given night.” Kurtz stated.
“I talked to a few players briefly to get an initial sense of things and obviously there’s a lot of disappointment that comes with losing in the playoffs but from what I saw they battled hard and just came up a bit short this year unfortunately. It’s my job to keep building and give this group what it needs to keep pushing & working towards the ultimate goal of winning the Stanley Cup.” Kurtz said.
Kurtz was asked about his plans for the off-season, “I talked to Craig Berube briefly as well but in the next few days I’ll get in touch with him and the rest of the coaching staff and get to know them. I’ll also meet with the scouting staff and leadership group to get to know them and get their input on where we go from here and then do my best to make that happen.”
The new Kings GM & ownership concluded the availability posing with a sweater for a photo op and Kurtz stepping off the podium to do a few 1-on-1 interviews with various media members as requested.

Good luck in La La land! I might be biased, but I think you’ll have no trouble contending for a while.
