Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda....Almost But not quite...

First I will start out by eating some crow.  A month ago we made a few moves and spent some assets to make out team considerbly better on paper, and as Simon T does as per usual it actually made the team far worse.   The only 2 teams St. Louis actually beat were the two teams ahead of them in there division (Nashville and Minnesota twice), but unfortunately losing every every out of division games while watching the other 2 teams win ahead of them left St. Louis left too big of a mountain to climb come deadline day.  St. Louis went from 1 point out of a playoff spot to 8 after the acquistions of Chara and Ennis. So whether I thought my team was better then it was, or whether I mis managed my assets once they arrived that is on you to decide.

Deadline day was fairly quiet, Chara was on the block but it did not seem any contenders had the room to make him fit into their lineups financially.  The hottest asset in the market in St. Louis was Alex Killorn.  There was some discussions with teams that week, but I did not really know my position as of yet.  But losing 3 of 4 games before deadline day made it clear that although we still want to make it push it was time to sell off an asset to a contender.  There were some teams still left in the running on deadline day but we felt that deal with Philadelphia made the most sense. Getting a guy like Dzingel who we could plug in to our top 9 to help cover the void of Killorn leaving, as well as a 4th round pick and Crotty just made us feel like it was the best offer we had.  Teams did inquire about a few other players in Pelech and Hyman but the phone got slammed down when asked about these players.

I would also like to apologize to any messages I may have missed, or people I mayhave been short with on Sunday.  Obviously it was mothers day and I was making a tour with my Wife and Child to our parents houses for visits so I was on the road most of the day and was doing my dest to not text and drive.

We are looking forward to still make a push if at all possible in the standings as I  would like to get some of these younger players into some meaningful games down the stretch, something that is not often said here in St. Louis.

On the bright side as always Blues fans, feel free to check out our up and comers down the street in St. Charles...currently in first place in their division and 2nd overall in the "A"
