Leafs Fire Desjardins, Hire Boughner

In what has been an up and down season in Toronto the Maple Leafs have announced that they have parted ways with head coach Willie Desjardins.

“I would like to sincerely thank Willie for his contributions to our organization over the past three years during which we worked together,” said general manager Joseph T Bubanj in a statement. “I have great respect for Willie, whom I hold in high regard but a change was necessary.”

Bob Boughner has been named the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, signing a 3-year deal.  

“In Bob Boughner, we see a very promising coach who will bring new life and new energy to our organization,” Bubanj said. “We feel that our team can achieve high standards and the time had come for a change.”
