Shut the Front Door

At some point, you knew the streak would end. For Montreal, the streak ended at 25 games. That's how long it's been since the team last won a game. There have been some overtime and shootout loses sprinkled in this run but that offered little comfort. When GM Forget took over, the Canadiens played well in those first couple of games. The 4-0 loss to Vancouver could have easily kicked the Canadiens back down the hole. Instead, the club came out and beat the NY Rangers 4-1. Early penalty troubles in the first allowed the Canadiens to score three PP goals. From that point, the Canadiens played stellar defense. The Canadiens are 1-1-2 since the arrival of GM Forget collecting 4 of a possible 8 points. The two overtime games were lost in the shootout and if the club had some scorers up front those games could be wins as well. The objective for the Canadiens is to finish the season strong and build on next season when hopefully a little more talent will equal a few more wins.
