Kings Fire Guy Boucher

2019-11-29

First off, I’d like to say making a move such as this is never an easy thing to do, but sometimes it is necessary. After much discussion with our team owner, our players and my direct reports, I’ve relieved Guy Boucher of his coaching duties for the Los Angeles Kings of the Elite Hockey Experience.

This is something I didn’t want to have to do after taking over this team in 2017. Even though I didn’t hire Guy, I was happy he was here and the players only had good things to say about him. Our working relationship over the past few years has been great and I only have good things to say about Guy. Coming into last season we really thought we could at least get back into the playoffs and I’m sure Guy would agree with that statement. Unfortunately, the team didn’t play up to our expectations and after much deliberation I felt this was a necessary move.

We’d like to thank Guy for his two seasons as coach of our hockey team. Not only is he a good coach, he’s also a great guy. We also figured doing this now would give Guy more time to interview with other teams and possibly find another job before the 2019-2020 EHE season starts. We wish Guy the best in his future endeavors and know he’ll land on his feet and be back in the EHE in short time.

We look forward to meeting with those coaches that are available and we look forward to the upcoming 2019-2020 EHE season.

Sincerely,

Brandyn Errickson
