It's Christmas on a Rangers day

2018-12-30

Well Hello There!

Anytime someone that’s known as a New York Rangers’ fan spends extended time around their family and friends the hockey team is sure to come up in a discussion.

Since you’re here, you’re probably a Ranger fan to some degree but I mean who isn't in the EHE. At the very least, it’s fair to say that you’re mildly interested in Rangers’ hockey. For whatever reason, you’re out of the loop, work or school has gotten crazy, watching a bad hockey team isn’t appealing or you just don’t have the time.

Before you go and talk about how good John Carlsson has played as of late, here’s the abridged version of the first 17 games of the season. The Rangers started off terrible in November, then won seven out of eleven games leading up to Christmas and have played middling to below average hockey ever since with an awful no goal defeat to the Boston Bruins last night. Something had to change: And you damn well know it was coming!

NEW YORK, December 23rd - New York Rangers general manager Martin Auzins today announced the acquisition of centre Logan Couture from the Arizona Coyotes.

Cooch, 29, had a very good year in 2017-18, recording 30 goals and 35 assists for 65 points in his fourth EHE season.
In 289 career games all with Arizona, Couture has recorded 97 goals, 154 assists, 251 points and 87 penalty minutes.Logan Couture was selected by the Arizona Coyotes as the 46th overall pick of the EHE Inaugural Draft.
Auzins' comment on Logan Couture: Has been a constant force for the Arizona Coyotes whenever he is on the ice. He’s had some bad luck when it comes to staying completely healthy, but when he can string together games he is a force to be reckoned with in all 3 zones.

NEW YORK, December 23rd - New York Rangers general manager Martin Auzins today announced the acquisition of John Queneville, Colton Sissons and Kevin Labanc from the Colorado Avalanche.

Quenneville, 22, is in his second EHE season while in minors, recording 24 goals and 43 assists for 67 points. John Quenneville was selected by the Dallas Stars as the 90th overall pick of the 2015 Entry Draft.
Auzins' comment on Q: Versatile and intelligent scoring forward with good intangibles.

Sissons, 25, had a very up and down year in 2017-18, recording a single goal and 3 assists for 4 points in 32 games. He spent time in the minors with Rockford where he put up 33 points in 40 games.
In 53 career games with Buffalo, Chicago and Colorado, Sissons has recorded 3 goals, 8 assists, 11 points and 16 penalty minutes. In 234 career AHL games he has 86 goals and 85 assists good for 171 points in 234 games. Colton Sissons was selected by the Buffalo Sabres as the 634th overall pick of the EHE Inaugural Draft.
Auzins' comment on Colton Sissons: I think Sissons is rather close to his ceiling. I am not as high on his mobility up the lineup as others but seem him as a perfect option for the fourth line. I can see a double-digit goal season on the horizon, but I think he will hover around 30 points for his career.

Labanc, 23, is entering his first full EHE season. Last year he spent time in the minors recording 19 goals and 25 assists for 44 points in 68 games. Kevin Labanc was selected by the Boston Bruins as the 193rd overall pick of the 2015 Entry Draft.
Auzins' comment on Kevin Labanc: Labanc grew by leaps and bounds in the 2017-18 season. Labanc is smart. He sees the ice and makes plays that sometimes remind me of Joe Thornton (Before you get mad and start dropping comments below, I’m not saying he is Joe Thornton. There is no one like Joe Thornton. I am just saying sometimes his understanding of what’s happening on the ice reminds me of Jumbo.).

In 259 career games all with Florida, Fast has recorded 24 goals, 23 assists, 47 points and 64 penalty minutes. Jesper Fast was selected by the Florida Panthers as the 676th overall pick of the EHE Inaugural Draft.
