Rangers Get Their Number One Centre in Duchene

2018-12-07

THE NEW YORK RANGERS ACQUIRE MATT DUCHENE

Duchene dressed for Anaheim's five games and his last one came at the Colorade Avalanche and played 18:45 in the game before being removed from the game at the very end.

The Rangers sent goaltender Laurent Brossoit, NJD second-round pick in the 2019 EHE Draft, forward Tage Thompson and center Bryan Little.

You may say we have Bryan Little on our second line, but he’s digressed to a third liner at best, leaving a void in our lineup to be filled so we had to make a move - Auzins said.

This problem was addressed by making a trade for Duchene. He’s literally on fire this year, scoring 34 points in 29 games in real life NHL. If you put this guy with Jon Marchessault, Mats Zucarello, Chris Kreider, or even Craig Smith, his points would be off the charts.

Maybe you don’t like him because of his comments made in the taxi? Well, that stuff happens.

I know for a fact that guys talk trash about their team, especially while being in a rocky patch. If you’ve played hockey, it’s just something that happened. The problem is that now people think he’s not loyal. It’s just heat of the moment.

Bringing in a guy who has 272 points in 303 games played, has scored 25 goals on three separate occasions, and wins over 54 percent of his face-offs is exactly what the Rangers need right now.

It would create depth down the middle and it would complete the Rangers top-six.
