Blackhawks Open Season Strong 2015-03-04 "Be nice if our special teams could go on a run like this" Was the answer provided by Blackhawks GM DJ Males when asked what needs to be fixed in the opening stages of this inaugural EHE season, "We haven't scored 1 power play goal all year, and we're currently killing just over 50% of our penalties. We keep this up, the results will begin to dry up." Are you happy? "Of course I am, at the end of the day we're here to win and we've been able to do that. But we need to be a complete team to truly compete in the long haul." So far in this inaugural season the Blackhawks have had nothing to worry about. They raced through the pre-season undefeated, and currently stand undefeated atop the Gretzky division. They have ridden the scoring touch of Joe Pavelski, the surprising start of Brian GIonta, their defence has been clutch, and the steady goaltending of Jonathon Quick has equalled a great start. "It's been a complete team effort, and its something we'll have to make sure we continue doing or in the end we'll be nothing and remembering the good ole times of winning." The Blackhawks have managed to maintain their roster of draft choices, choosing not to deal but to see what sort of concoction his gathered troops can turn out to be. "We had a plan going into the draft, we knew what roles would be required and we set out to fill them with players we knew would fit a system. Can't say i'm the mad trading professor, but I do like to experiment with chemistry to see if I can push my teams further past their talent threshold. All about the long haul for me." Many teams have already traded out of their first round picks in the upcoming superdraft at seasons end, you havent...why is that? "To be honest, all of us started on the same level. None of us knew what we had, nor did we know where we stood against the competition. I just wasn't going to sell off the picks in the first couple weeks of the season before finding out where this team stood. I'm certainly not knocking the process, we all have different philosophies. I stood by mine, like they stood by theirs. We liked our team coming out of the draft. We're happy we kept them together."
