Size Holden Onto Hope

2017-10-28

For the first three season of EHE, the Canadiens were a team that look poised to win a Championship and stand strong; however after choking in the finals in the second season, the Habs have completely gutted their roster and hoping that what Size has put together will be able to do something.

The Habs had an interesting off-season to say the least, with the departures of Captain, Claude Giroux, retired veteran, Shane Doan, and a host of other big name players, the habs have arguably put themselves in a position where anything could happen.

Size had some communication issues during free agency with the league, often getting blasted for incorrect values submitted and obvious signs that they were submitted by a 2 year old who thought she was doing a good thing.

"It was the Tyler Kelleher situation all over again."

Size was able to snag a few key free agents (Hanzal and Sekera) but noted that several free agents spurned La Belle Province for obvious greener pastures *grumbles something about bryan little being a big apple dick*

Peter The Purple and friends re-sign in Montreal

The Off-season wasn't a total dissapointment for the Habs, GM Duran Size was able to convince Peter Laviolette that he should stick around for another 3 seasons. After everything that had happened to the Habs, there was some speculation that The Purple would end up looking elsewhere for a coaching gig, however, the bond between these two has been inseperable since their inaugural season together.

Laviolette has loved Montreal, the boys have especially enjoyed playing for him over the years as he has been able to motivate and inspire his players into being a well oiled machine. Some say he should have been a Jack Adams winner by now with the way he has been able to guide the Habs over the last 3 years, including a rash of injuries over the last 2 seasons, however Laviolette doesn't concern himself with those kind of achievements as the results on the ice have spoken for themselves.

Markov's Last Dance in EHE

The General will be responsible for the captaincy of the Montreal Canadiens for what could arguably be his final season in EHE. There are rumours swirling that he will be bolting for the KHL next season, already having an agreement in place, he was set to leave this off season however Size was able to convince the Russian to come and play out the rest of his contract before leaving.

"We love Markov and love that he wanted to come back, he knows this might be a tough year for Montreal but the man has nothing but class and respect"

While the captaincy might be a big thing for Markov, he knows that he could very well be traded during the year as well.

"Duran was very clear that bringing me back for my last season could mean I get moved, I would love to play for a contender for my final year and would love to win a championship."

Size would be in no rush to deal the defender, a possible strong start could delay talks, however with the plan that Size has had in place, moving the General seems like the likelier option.

We want pieces in place moving forward, pieces that can help us restabalize and become a stronger team moving forward.

A rivalry extinguished, Size left empty inside

This off-season saw the departure of several recognizable GMs in the league, a weird turnover considering the success of the league. Being in the league since the beginning, Size has seen many GMs come and go without a whisper, however, the shocking resignization of Boston Bruins GM, Rob Prach, has left a depressing hole in the heart of the Habs GM.

"The Bruins Rivalry will never be the same, we had intense back and forth talks but I had nothing but respect for the man. Facing the Bruins will not be the same when the next GM takes over."

This was noticable in the 5-2 thumping the Habs gave the Bruins in their pre-season opener, there was a sense of emptiness in the arena as the Habs completely dominated the game from start to finish. The Bruins looked lifeless and slow as the habs outshot, outplayed and out hustled the Bruins.

"It was like no one was managing them!"

Season outlook

Size knows that this is going to be a tough season for the Habs, the promising young roster that the Habs now deploy will be one that gets tested and will need to come together in order to try and be successful. The Habs GM is not too worried about this season though, he knows this will be a building block for the years to come, with the infusion of youth Size has been able to acquire since last season, it will only be a matter of time for this promising young group.
