Little agrees to three-year deal with Rangers

Forward Bryan Little agreed to a three-year, $29.500 million contract with the New York Rangers on Friday. The contract has an average annual value of $7.500 million and runs through 2019-20.

The 30-year-old has spent his 3-season EHE career with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche franchises.

"The one thing I said was I wanted to sign a longer-term deal," Little said. "I wanted that stability. I knew I could play a lot longer and I wanted to see what New York, an original six franchise is all about. The term is kind of big for me. I wanted to be here for a while and be secure. Luckily they were offering that right away so it worked out."

Little had 52 points (18 goals, 34 assists) in 77 games last season.

"He's a very consistent player," general manager Martin Auzins said. "You can use him in a lot of different areas. He has the ability to score goals, he has the ability to make plays. He's gonna be one of our 50-plus percent faceoff guys. He's the type of two-way player, 200-foot player, that he is. The quiet leadership he provides. … There's zero maintenance with him. He comes to play each and every day, he's always one of the top physical testing players in here."

Welcome back, Kevin!

The New York Rangers signed defenseman Kevin Klein to a one-year, $2.0 million contract Friday.

The 33-year-old Klein had 10 goals and 10 assists in 74 regular-season games last season, and added two assists in 6 playoff games. In 198 career games, he has 19 goals and 40 assists.

Luke Kunin signs a heavy contract with Rangers

Forward gets three years, was captain for gold medal-winning United States at WJC

Forward Luke Kunin signed a three-year contract with the New York Rangers on Friday.

Kunin, 20, was selected by the Blue Jackers with the No. 18 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.

Kunin led the University of Wisconsin in goals (22) and points (38) in 35 games last season. He was the first sophomore captain for the Badgers in 41 years. For his NCAA career, Kunin had 70 points (41 goals, 29 assists) in 69 games.

At the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship, Kunin also served as captain for the United States, which won the gold medal with a 5-4 shootout win against Canada. He had four points (two goals, two assists) in seven games at the tournament.

Malone inked a three-year, entry-level contract with the Rangers on Friday.

The 22-year-old center finished his final college season with 18 goals and 24 assists in 36 games while recording a plus-24 rating. The undrafted youngster helped lead Harvard University to the NCAA's Frozen Four, and he will have a chance next season to find a spot in a New York lineup.

The New York Rangers traded Forward Christoph Bertschy for Defenseman Erik Gustaffson

During the 2016-17 season, Gustafsson appeared in 2 games with the Blackhawks and showed some NHL ability. He recorded 17:40 minutes on average.

Last season with the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League, Gustafsson continued to put up solid offensive numbers with one goal and 13 assists in only 20 games.

That could make Gustafsson a potential option for the Rangers’ blue line next season, although he’ll be competing with John Michael Liles, Michael Kapla and Ryan Graves for playing time on the left side.
