Worst Finish Possible....X2 2017-06-07 Worst Finish Possible….X2 The absolute worst case finish has befallen both the New Jersey Devils and their affiliate, the Greenville Road Warriors. Ending the season respectively in 9th position in their conferences. A 9th place finish. One measly point separating the Devils from the dance. Not making the playoffs and earning the lowest possible chance in the entry draft; which as it happens saw the devils draw the worst pick; caps off the worst season to date with GM Muchowski behind the helm. A heartbreaking season saw the Devils fighting for 1st place in the league, fall all the way out of the post season picture. “I have been playing a lot of golf this off season… watching the other teams face off for the cup. The only upside is I have a 7 handicap now…” - GM Muchowski When asked if he would resign as GM of the Devils he responded by claiming the mismanagement of the team had nothing to do with him but the partnership with Greenville. Eyes darting back and forth, forehead a little sweaty. Kris was asked about the issues faced this year and had this to say: “It is because of the travel distance between Greenville and New Jersey. An 11 hour drive is just to much for our guys to handle. Its crazy expecting our guys to play NHL quality games when they have to deal with a commute that far!” When asked to claify what who he was referring to seeing as the team had maybe 2 call ups all season long and never for a position above a 3rd pair Defender or a 4th line forward, He responded with anger and screaming. “I will NOT let the Greenville Road Warriors destroy another season for the Devils. I will see to it personally that the SOLE REASON we did not make the playoffs is removed from our organization entirely!” By the time this article will hit the web, news has already come out that GM Muchowski has ended the clubs relationship with Greenville and relocated the affiliation to Springfield. The Springfield Thunderbirds are now the official affiliate of the New Jersey Devils. When asked about what will happen if the team misses the playoffs again, now that his Affiliate is much closer, GM Muchowski immediately became quiet, wringing his hands together and once again avoiding eye contact, I was able to hear a few mumbling words. “…..its still a 4 hours drive…..” Here’s hoping we see playoff hockey this coming season.
