Ducks fill GM vacancy. 2017-03-19 In what some would describe as a questionable move, the Anaheim Ducks have lured aging Sven Henry out of retirement to become their new general manager. The Swede joins the EHE after a long hiatus from Sim-hockey. Fans of the Ducks will hold onto hope that his extensive past experience will be enough to see the club make an unlikely journey to the post-season. Informed that past GMs haven't lasted long under the bright lights of Anaheim and that the pressure might get the best of him too, the Swede was dismissive, assuring fans and fellow executives alike that he didn't come out of retirement for a brief and failed tenure with Anaheim. Instead, he insisted, he's here to stay and to build a team the people of Anaheim can be proud of. A team that wont feature the likes of Nicklas Grossmann, Olivier Archambault or any of the other scrubs who should have no place in a proud organization. Quizzed further about his preferred style of play he made it quite clear that he likes the physical style of play and mentioned Ed Hospodar, Andrei Nazarov and Jimmy Mann as players he'd love to see play for him. "Intimidation can get you a long way", he said. "Failing that, I don't mind good goaltending to steal us a game or two." He makes no secret about the fact that a lot of players should now consider themselves on notice. Failure to impress can mean a very quick ticket out of town as soon as the CBA allows. The team, he feels, is one in dire need of an identity and a clear direction. He expects to be a big player in the off-season, on all fronts. No stone will be left unturned in trying to improve a team that's lacking almost every aspect of what makes a winning team. He also made it clear he was excited to be here and was looking forward to getting to know his peers over the coming days and weeks.
