When It Was All Said and Doan 2017-02-27 Let it never be said that a GM abandons his Coach during a slump. Laviolette probably has the most job security in the EHE. Size, facing an uphill battle after his Habs started falling apart, has seemingly decided to reshuffle the deck and restocked the team with new vets and new voices in the locker room determined to keep them competitive. The results have been paying dividends. Size started by shipping out verteran defenseman, Dan Girardi, to Washington getting up and coming dman Nikita Nesterov from the Washington Captials. Many believe that was going to be the start of the Montreal fire Sale. Size even went ahead and shipped top 6 winger Patric Hornqvist to rival Bostonhowever got prosmising center, Philip Danault out of the Bruins. Size had even begun shipping other veterans out too, sensing maybe the voices werent carrying enough weight behind them, he acquired Jason Garrison from Dallas and shipped out James Wisniewski back to Dallas in a separate deal. Then there was the Marchand Shocker. "When we dealt Marchand, we were getting a decent return and allowing ourselves to restock our forwards while not losing Marchand for nothing at the end of the season. We couldn't just afford to think short term with the way our team was playing. We needed something to seriously happen." Size got back good young forward, Connor Brown, and established forward, Antoine Roussel, from Colorado who had been all in at this point. With Size having acquired Petr Mrazek for the future, Quick seemed expendable, however Size managed to swing a very favourable deal with the Los Angeles Kings who had just shipped starter, Martin Jones, to Colorado as well and Size was able to pluck Joonas Korpisalo from the Kings for Quick, Korpisalo has been spectacular for the Ice Caps since coming over and has provided a very steady backup to Reto Berra. Size was then able to swing a deal with Philadealphia to acquire both Mikkel Boedker and Kris Russel for Connor Brown, feeling that he could right the ship bringing in some much needed leadership and gritty guys who could gut it out and turn the Habs around, giving Laviolette some new blood. after getting those guys though, Size then added the new experiences voices to the Habs acquiring both Shane Doan and Andrei Markov from the St Louis Blues and Los Angeles Kings respectively. Doan and Markov have made immediate impacts as well, filling out Size's needs for both offence, steady passing and sharp defense as well. While these acquisitions have pushed the majority of the kids back over to St John's, this has simply strengthen and bolstered the IceCaps for their playoff push as well, keeping up with both the Hershey Bears and the Leighigh Valley Phantoms. Its the hope that these moves propell the Habs back into their winning ways, though highly unlikely to duplicate their run from last year where they dominated the EHE in the second half, the Habs believe that they can be a force in the back half of the season and also be a force in the AHL as well.
