Cup Final Now A Best Of Three

2016-06-13

Dallas -

Down 2-0 and heading to Montreal, with the return of injured defenceman Mike Green still unknown, the prognosis was not good for the Dallas Stars. Following their second home loss, coach Mike Babcock put the club through a spirited practice during which the Stars worked on bringing a more physical presence to the ice - a more aggressive forcheck than they have been known to bring.

The small yet significant change in tactics seemed to work in Montreal, with Dallas winning the next two road games, tying the series at two and regaining the home ice advantage, which may or not mean anything in this so far wild Cup final series. Dallas heads home with the confidence that, with the exception of this series, they have been dominant on home ice during these playoffs. Montreal heads to Dallas with their own confidence - that they are more than capable of putting the puck behind superstar goaltender Carey Price enough to win, and can win on the road in Dallas.

Mike Babcock - "We got a bit lazy as a coaching staff, assuming that what got us here would work in the Finals, regardless of our opponent. That's on me. After having our asses handed to us by the Canadiens in consecutive games, we had to make a few adjustments. Forunately we were able to win the two games in Montreal and head back home tied at two."

Asked about the status of defenceman Mike Green, who was injured in the second last game of the divisional final against the Canucks and has missed the first four games of the cup final, Babcock was non-commital, saying that he was day-to-day and would be a game time decision for the remainder of the series.
