Subban to be Bruins cornerstone

2014-12-11

They were talking about building the core of the Boston Bruins in the first 5 to 10 rounds and this is exactly the path taken by the management. Gm Prach took the time to discuss the choice made and where they will go from there.

¨First and foremost, yes we decide to follow the youth path. You never have enough pure talent. We'll add veterans at the right time. Guys with experience and winners. And NO we are not aiming for Mcdavid or Eichel. I seriously don’t care about the next draft for now. Building a dynasty is not a rebuilding process, we aim for the playoff and we won’t accept a loser mentality here. We don’t want to be a Cinderella story, we want to be recognize as a contender every year.¨

Pernell Karl Subban

¨I’m not gonna hide it, Subban is my favorite defenceman (with Doughty). We can debate on who is the best defenceman but to me, this guy can do it all.  He’s young, talented, confident and the bigger the moment, the bigger he performs. He can hit, rack up points, most importantly, he’s build with strong character. Captain? Will see but one thing for sure, Sky is the limit with Pk.¨

Alex Galchenyuk, Ryan Strome and Jonathan Huberdeau

¨Not saying those three will be star, but the potential is there. All of them are again, build with strong characters, big frame, are versatile (can play center and winger), talented with highlight real moves and not afraid of anything. I’m just glad to add those boys in the family and see them has a 1a, 1b centermen in the near future or we never know, on the same line.

Dougie Hamilton

¨A stud anywhere he played. Learn with one of the best in Zdeno Chara. A big boy with lots of talent that excels in every zone. Huge and mobile defencemen who’s not afraid to use his big 6foot5 frame to make sure anyone respect his teammate. We are very pleased to add him in our core.¨

Jake Allen

¨After four years of development at the AHL level, Allen is ready to take the big leap to the EHE. Does he have the potential to be a number one keeper? I believe so. I know that he did absolutely everything he could to elevate his game.  Patience is the key in hockey especially in this position. He doesn’t need pressure from us but we will make sure he will have the space to do his job.¨

Next rounds...

¨Like I said, those boys are young, and they will need time to establish themselves. We will find or at least try to bring the best veterans to help them. Our job is far from done so there’s nothing to be excited about. Don’t get me wrong, I’m extremely happy with those guys. Let’s simply say that I learned 2 things until now: First and foremost, the future is bright in Boston. The New England Patriots, Celtics and Boston College won’t be the only successful organization.  Second, if we want someone, don’t wait, just go and get it. Leçon learned... We face 29 GMs who knows what they‘re doing, no time for risk and patience. I’m not gonna hide it, Lucic, Drouin, Keith and Simmonds were high on our list, meaning in our top 14 players for the first 10 rounds... And we missed them for one reason... patience. That won’t happen again.  45 rounds left means 45 more bricks to add and build this identity.¨
