Jooris rewards Laviolette; Habs stymie Pens for Game 1 win

2016-05-24

Welcome to the most dangerous house in EHE.

Josh Jooris scored two goals and Niskanen took advantage of Pittsburgh's frustration to beat the Pens 4-2 in Game 1.

Jooris, given a vote of confidence by Coach Laviolette and GM Size as rumours swirled he would be replaced with Riley Nash to add a defensive element to the 4th line, responded by answering both of Pittsburghs goals in the first period.

"It was great they were willing to keep me in there and I had the opportunity to prove them right and help the club."

The sold out crowd of 21273 at the Bell Centre were more than fired up for this game. With Montreals 4th line having an answer to the Pens offence, tensions and frustrations boiled over when Simmonds went after Lucic and got ejected from the game. The Habs answered promptly by scoring on the ensuing power play.

"These fans fire us up and we play well here."

The Habs know the Pens came off a hard fought series against the Boston Bruins sp the Habs knew the importance of winning game 1 on home ice. The Habs know the Pens will be a different team in game 2.
