New York, Let's Go To Work 2016-04-22 RYAN mcdonagh DEFENSEMAN / NEW YORK RANGERS I’ll never forget the first time I saw that sweater. It was October 24, 2015. When I saw it hanging in my stall, I marveled at my name and number stitched on the back in red and white. Then, when I put it on, I ran both hands over those seven historic block letters: R A N G E R S I was a New York Ranger. The jersey said so much with so little. There was no flash about it. The rough stitch of the letters made sense. It reflected New York. Once the doors open, I know it’s go-time. As I walk to the locker room, I catch a little glimpse of the Madison Square Garden ice. That’s the best view in America, in my opinion. New York, pull on your sweaters. It’s time to go to work. The team had its ups and downs during the regular season but found a way to win when it mattered the most. The team walks into playoffs for the first time in EHE history after finishing 3rd in the metro division and will face an uphill battle with the Pitsburgh Penguins. How closer to real life we can get? Yes, first round matchup is the same as in NHL. Kris Letang and Ryan McDonagh anchoring the bluelines in EHE as well as in NHL. Ryan McDonagh came over in a trade with Penguins and couldn't be happier to be a blueshirt. Its time to go to work. Busy deadline gives mediocre results. Best is yet to come? Antoine Vermette - New York, my job is fitting in. They were playing good hockey before I got here, and now I just want to do whatever I can to add to that. That’s been a day-by-day process for me. Yes, it’s different, but it’s also really refreshing. I’m getting to experience the game from a perspective I’ve never had before. The goal here is to win the Stanley Cup, nothing less. I can’t tell you how energized that makes me. I’m going to lay everything I have out there in order to do it. This is the best time. This is playoff time. And this is a hockey town. CONTRIBUTOR
