Habs Surging

2016-03-08

The all-star break was a chance for the Habs to recharge and reorganize after stumbling into the break fighting for a playoff spot.

They've now been dominating the EHE and made their presence felt.

The Habs have gone 15-2-2 since the break and have vaulted up the Atlantic division and have been firing on cylinders.

"it's been a much different vibe in that locker room since the break and everyone has come together well" Captain Claude Giroux was saying after their 4-3 win overt Columbus last night.

the shift seemed to take effect after Marleau was traded but the real momentum shifted after GM Size made possibly his beat deal of the year.

Martin acquired to lead blue line.

Size was aware that his blue line didn't have that veteran presence and there was no real leadership to lock it down. Size saw opportunity to acquire Paul Martin from the Capitals as a man who could come in and calm the blue line down

Quick hitting his stride.

Quick seem to be hot and cold all season and was shaky on the road. He's since locked down back to back road wins during this hot streak and has seemingly held his team in close games even stealing a point here and there.

Steen takes 29 seconds to prove worth.

A smooth pass for Niskanen, Steen walked into untouched into St Louis zone and rip a shot to open the scoring in a game that saw top line of Nash-Steen-Giroux click almost immediately. Steen also had the shootout winner in that game too.

The Habs are telling really well with the new pieces added to this roster. The additions of Lucic, Martin, Steen and Stewart have helped reshape the locker room in terms of leadership and chemistry. The confidence of the team is high and Size doesn't figure to add much at the deadline. The Habs will continue to build momentum towards the playoffs in anticipation for the returns of Bailey and Barrie to the lineup for the playoff push.
