Help down the middle 2016-02-16 Detroit going into this season was weak down the middle, their #1 center was Steen who is more dangerous playing on the left side so really their #1 center coming in was Sheahan. Sheahan went down before the season even started, throwing Trocheck into the mix to be the #2 center behind Steen. Trocheck has posted 38 points in 51 games and has shifted Sheahan down the pecking order once he came back from his injury. Detroit was strong down the wings which made moving Steen for a #1 center that much easier when they pulled the trigger for Krejci who has posted 17 points in 20 games, should def get a nice rerate as well as he currently has 45 points in 47 games. Detroit was set to have Dylan Strome join their ranks down the road and were excited to have him once he graduated to the Wings, but when Philly came knocking at the door asking about Strome and saying Draisaitl could head the other way, it was hard for GM Valle to say no, I mean the 20-year-old rookie has posted 40 points in 46 games as a 20 year old playing with one of the best group of youngsters in the NHL in Edm. This now speeds up the position Detroit needed help with, the 3 centers should get nice bumps in ratings in Krejci, Draisaitl and Trocheck which moves their #1 center entering the season (Sheahan) to the 3rd line LW or down to the 4th line C. With depth now at Center, Wing and at the goalie position the Wings can now concentrate on swinging a deal for help on the blue line or trying to get help come FA and at the draft. The Wings top 2 lines next season could look something like this: Hoffman Krejci Tarasenko Tatar Draisaitl Kucherov Hockeytown is excited for next season, GO WINGS!
