New #1 Center in Hockeytown

The Red Wings made a trade with their rivals the Chicago Blackhawks, a few seasons back this would never would have happened but now that they are in two seperate conferences they both got together and struck a deal.

The Wings traded away last years leading scorer Steen 23 goals 29 assists for 52 points in 46 games to the hawks who were looking for a top forward who could esentially play either at LW or at Center. Steen was off to another great start as he had posted 25 points in 30 games.

The Blackhawks offered to deal Krejci who could be a true #1 center for the Wings and also who was 2 years younger plus a 2nd and a 4th, GM Valle felt it was to good to pass up, even though he really really didnt want to move Steen.

The Wings will be hoping to add a great prospect with that 2nd round, and find a hidden gem with that 4th rounder they also acquired.

Steen stepped in game 1 for the Hawks with a goal and not just a goal but what would turn out to be the game winning goal, and Krejci got an assist in his 1st game though the Wings lost that game.

Krejci will step right into the spot Steen was holding down, centering Hoffman and Tarasenko, while rookie center Trocheck will continue to the hold the #2 C position with 20 points in 30games with Tatar and Kucherov.

News Update

Sheahan is close to coming back, after being gone all season so far. He will step into the 3rd C position with rookies Drouin and M.Karlsson, which will push the old veteran Gomez down to the 4th line with Flynn and one of Carter or Reaves.
