Ducks' hand Predators another loss right before Christmas

The Anaheim Ducks handed the Preds another loss going into the holiday break to give the Preds a record of 2-6-2 in their last 10 games, giving them a total of 6 out of 20 possible points. It's an extreme low for the Preds, a team that started the season very hot, and soared to the top of league standings for a time before slowly plummeting down to the rest of the pack.

"I blame Mat Fargas in Pittsburgh for publicly wishing on the website for us to go on a losing streak. It's all his fault." GM Wolf retorted to media. There were rumours that Wolf may have left some nasty voicemails on Pittsburghs GM Mat Fargas' phone at 2 in the morning. When asked about it, Wolf said "I may... have left some... colorful words for him. Do I regret it? ... well lets just say I don't think him and I are going to be trading partners anymore."

The Nashville Predators are struggling to maintain the type of dominating hockey they'd started the season with. "It is certainly frustrating, but we need to keep a level head about things. Our strong play at the beginning of the season that saw us #1 overall for a time may have put some unrealistic expectations on our franchise. Like I said before, a few weeks ago - it's a long season, you can't expect to dominate throughout the whole season. There will be patches of bad play. It's just how the dynamics work. With that said, we have a new challenge to face, which is adversity. We got to really battle it out here moving forward to maintain a playoff position. Once you lock a playoff spot, anything can happen." Wolf said.

Things are going from bad to worse, as Sean Monahan has just gone down to injury and will be out long term with an upper body injury. Monahan is a huge factor in the Predators offense, their 2nd leading scorer, so it will be a huge hurdle for the team to overcome as they try and claw their way back to being a contending team.

Wolf made it clear again as he always has, that he's not in the market to make any big moves. "I don't really believe in those to be honest. We are a draft and develop team. There's no way I'm giving up young assets for quick fixes. We are going to try and battle it out with the roster we have. There's a lot of hockey left to be played, and from the holiday break to the deadline, it will tell me what kind of team we are. A contender, or a pretender? If we're a pretender, then I'll have to look at maybe being a 'seller' at the deadline. But don't expect radical changes. With a bright future, I'm not all that concerned. In the mean time we pray in Connor McJesus name..."
