Coyotes break silence
2015-12-09The Arizona Coyotes and GM Tim Scholl entered the EHE the inaugural season and since that time have remained quiet in the way of the media.
"We want to make our statements on the ice, not in the media, " commented the shy GM. But the team decided it was time to address media.
Last season the team finished up at .500 but missed out on the playoffs. This season, 23 games in, the team is in 2nd place in the Pacific division. They are led on the ice by Jaden Schwartz, who had neeted 15 goals and 14 assists this year. 2 defensmen are next on the points list with Alec Martinez and Dennis Wideman being 2 and 3.
The team was hurt by the loss of Logan Couture for 8 games with an injury. Jeff Carter moved up to number 1 center and Ryan Strome, who was picked up in the controversial Taylor Hall deal, did nicely up at number 2 center.
As for the TRADE in the offseason, which saw Hall along with Dusin Byfuglien, go to Boston for Strome, Craig Smith, prospects Ville Husso and Mark Jankowski along with a 2nd round pick in 2017.
"Yeah, we may have F'ed that one up," said Scholl.
The thinking was....the team felt Hall was injury prone, and to pick up many assets from him and Byfulgien, an UFA after next year, was something to think about. Strome as stated earlier is holding up nicely with 6 goals and 9 assists, and Smith has chipped in 5 and 5.
The prospect are something to keep an eye on as Jankowski has 17 points in 14 at NCAA Providence College. The NHL Calgary Flames still await the arrival for their 1st round pick in 2012. Husso, a goaltender, is leading his Finnish Elite team with an 11-4-5 record and a 2.17 GAA for the league's top team.
Overall, this team still plays hard. It may be one scorer away from challenging and will need help in net soon but things should OK in Arizona.
On a personal note, sorry guys for not posting anything until now. While I try to get my lines in (and not get fined like last year), articles come after the three jobs that am I holding down.
As a shameless plug, one on my jobs is a vacation consultant for Expedia CruiseshipCenters. So if anyone has a vacation needs (cruise or land) please let me know and I can help you out. Basically anything you can do on Expedia, I can help you with.
If you visit my webstie, www.cruiseshipcenters.com/Timscholl you will see a splash page where you can enter a drawing for a free cruise.
