A Fresh Start and a Fresh Look for Anaheim

2024-07-23

The Anaheim Ducks held a press conference today at Great Park Ice & FivePoint Arena, their practice facility, to announce the hiring of Colin McBain to be their general manager. "I am extremely excited for this opportunity to do business and compete with all of the GMs, and work with the Anaheim Ducks to build this team up."

McBain, 21, has one year of experience under his belt as a GM in sim hockey. "There will be some getting used to, for sure, but I am confident in my abilities to do what I can with this team. Our plan is simple, rebuild and develop prospects."

Anaheim has struggled in recent seasons to stabilize a general manager for the long haul. Now Ducks fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as McBain doesn't plan on going anywhere. "This is a team in need of someone to take charge and lead the way for years to come. I'm happy to say I can be that person to lead them to success."

When asked about rebuilding and what his offseason plan will be, McBain reiterated the importance of a rebuild at this time. "We have plenty of good prospects, and lots of picks. That's without mentioning the young guys we have on the roster like Raymond and Schneider." While the plan for their young players seems to be in place, nothing is set in stone with player movement yet. "It's early, playoffs aren't even over yet. We'll look over our players and see what the market is like when the time comes. We don't feel the need to rush anything."

Definitely expect Anaheim to look towards selling a couple of players this offseason as they will focus on the "draft heavy" strategy. Could this new GM finally bring what Anaheim has needed all along? "A fresh start, that's what we want this season. I think it's going to be a ton of fun. I can't wait to get things started. A huge thank you to the EHE for having me on board."

Fresh start. Fresh look. The Mighty Duck...has in fact...returned. The Ducks organization has announced the reveal of their new logo. Mixing two eras of Ducks hockey, bringing back the Mighty Duck, with the good ol' Orange and Black. Nothing better than to kick off a new era of Anaheim hockey with a new logo and a new general manager.
