Road Warriors Take Center Stage 2015-10-01 The New Jersey Devils owner and General Manager Kris Muchowski has announced a big change for the organization with the Farm Team change from Albany to Greenville. “I wanted to foster a different mentality with this organization from the ground up. We had an amazing season in the NHL. The Devils were almost unstoppable in the regular season and won the Eastern Conference. However, that did not translate to a good run in the AHL. The Albany Devils were the bottom of the barrel, going weeks between wins.” The Albany Devils counter to what the New Jersey Devils accomplished; ended the season with a record of 15-23-6. “We are very happy to announce that we have moved our farm team to Greenville and will now have the Road Warriors as our AHL organization. The move was made for a few reasons. First, to make a change, I decided it would be best for the Devils Organization as a whole to have a fresh start in the AHL and to look to compete at both fronts. The better team we have in The ‘A’ the better call ups and team we will have in the ‘N’ And Secondly, I wanted to distinguish between the brands. I want our guys to have their own identity in the AHL. The Greenville Road Warriors gives them this. They are Warriors. They have their own colours and their own logo to fight for. This gives them a brand they can be proud to be a part of and at the same time, give them something to shoot for. The Road Warriors and the Devils, two parts of the same organization but each with its own identity. Our guys in the AHL now have a crest to wear proudly and work hard for, and at the same time, strive to earn the right to wear the black and red with the Devil on their chest.” GM Muchowski was asked about if anything was in the works to help bolster his club in the AHL. “We won’t be talking about anything specific as of yet, obviously we need to keep things close to the chest at this point. However there is some things in the works and we have also sat down with our head coach down there, Keith McCambridge, who is ready and willing to get these guys working hard. The NHL and the New Jersey Devils was our main priority last season, and while that will always be the case. We are 100% committed to focusing our efforts on two fronts this coming season and not just letting the AHL run on its own.” Looking forward to seeing how the season goes for both the Devils and the newly minted Road Warriors. - The New Jersey Times
