Final 10

2023-06-04

Tonights game against the San Jose Sharks is the start of a 10 game stretch to the finish line for the Calgary Flames. Currently the Flames sit 1st in the Pacific with 85 points with the Vancouver Canucks, Seattle Kraken, and LA Kings close behind with 82, 80, and 78 points respectively.

At this point in the season the Calgary Flames find themselves in uncharted territory. The last time the Flames captured a division title was during a short 48 game season in 2014/15. This season there has been many highs and lows. From seeing Nazem Kadri and inconsistent Jordan Binningham moved out, to The King of Viking Daryl Sutter being let go and the hiring of Andrew Brunette,  through it all the team stuck together and put in the hard work.

With a team best and 2nd best power play in the league at 25.5% and with having the 6th best penalty kill at 84.1% the Flames are determined to lock down tops in the Pacific Division.

When asked, GM Stephen had this to say,

“I have no idea what the magic number are to secure first in the division and don’t care. What’s important is that the team keeps growing and learning and everything else will fall into place. Would it be great to lock down first in the Pacific, yes, but making it the Cup Finals is the end goal.”

“So let the race to finish line begin tonight”
