Boone Jenner

2023-03-19

Back on January 27th of this past season, the team was in a funk defensively so GM Stephen made a bold move to shake things up.

Nazem Kadri, Kevin Bahl, and Scott Mayfield were shipped off to the Dallas Stars in the shake-up. Coming back to Calgary was Jacob Trouba, Boone Jenner, and a 2024 3rd-round pick.

The deal was tough as Kadri was off to a stellar start to the season offensively.  However, getting a defensive stud in Trouba and Jenner is what GM Stephen thought the team needed.

So after 25 games with the Flames, who is Boone Jenner?

Well in the 25 games to date, Jenner has put up 11 goals and 8 assists along with a plus 3 in an average of 15:59 minutes a game. He isn’t on the same pace as Nazem Kadri where Kadri has 10 more points and is a plus 13 but Jenner’s contract also saves the Flames some money to spend on another position which was Jacob Trouba.

Boone Jenner is from Dorchester Ontario and plays center. As a youth he was critiqued for his skating ability however through hard work it vastly improved. He is also very proficient in the face-off dot and on the forecheck where it seems every time he is out there on the ice he has his opponents looking over their shoulders. What we like about Boone is his ability to do what is needed to help the team succeed and for this, it was a no-brainer to bring him to Calgary along with Trouba.

In our minds Boone Jenner is a gamer and exactly the guy you need in the playoffs. Now we just need to get there.
