Flames make pre-season move

2022-12-23

Deck the Hall. Just before the preseason started the Calgary Flames completed a trade with the Nashville Predators to bring in local kid Taylor Hall. Both GM Stephen and GM Eric didn’t waste much time negotiating and were able to complete the deal. Adam Boqvist will also be joining Hall in Calgary, while Rasmus Anderson and Kasperi Kapanen are headed to Nashville.

GM Stephen was quoted “Anderson will be missed by the organization and city but after looking at our upcoming depth on defense I felt it was time to grab an asset to help our forward ranks and core young guns. The timing was perfect as we have until the trade deadline to decide if we want to make Taylor a franchise player. Taylor brings a wealth of experience and skill to our forward's ranks and will most likely start on the 1st line next to either Kadri or Pettersson.”

“It was a tough decision to move Rasmus as he came to Calgary in the Jacob Slavin trade but with our current depth on defense and the emergence of Jake Sanderson for next season we felt this was the right time. On behalf of the organization, I would like to thank Rasmus for his contributions to the team and organization.”

“Taylor Hall was selected 15th overall in the inaugural EHE draft by the Arizona Coyotes. In his time in the EHE, Hall has only had one season with fewer than 64 points once in his EHE career, which was his first season with the Coyotes where he scored 57 points. Hall also brings 79 playoff games of experience which will help the team move forward in their quest to make another appearance in the playoffs.”

When asked about Kapanen, GM Stephen has this to say, “We had hoped to see how he would fit in but when you get the chance to get a guy like Hall and the high potential of Boqvist, you just need to make it happen. Boqvist will report to the Wranglers where we hope for a strong season from him. Moving Kapanen also allows Kakko and Bastian to fight for that third-line right-wing position.”

Welcome to the Calgary Flames Taylor Hall.
