Trade Deadline Passes with no Kings Trades 2021-05-11 The EHE trade deadline came and went on Sunday and not even a whimper from the Los Angeles Kings. While we shouldn’t be too surprised based on how the Kings management have gone about things this season, not making any move could be seen as a vote of confidence in the existing team or the complete opposite. There were rumors of possible deals which mainly focused around top line defender, Colton Parayko. It’s believed that up to 5 teams made offers to the Kings GM, but nothing came to fruition. With the upcoming EHE expansion to Seattle, it makes sense as to why Kings GM, Brandyn Errickson, would float a name like Parayko’s out there. While he’s arguably their best defender, moving him should bring in a decent haul to help refill a pretty baron Kings farm system. While it’s yet to be confirmed by the team, it’s strongly believed that Andrew Shaw will retire at seasons end. Brought in before this season began, Shaw came to the Kings with three 40+ point seasons in the EHE, including last season. Unfortunately, it hasn’t quite worked out as well in LA where he has chipped in just 4 goals and 4 assists while playing mainly on the 3rd line. His -18 +/- is worst on the team and he probably would’ve been fighting for a 4th line spot next season, but his time as a King will apparently come to an end before then. If the rumors are true, we wish him the best in his future endeavors. While we haven’t heard directly from the Kings GM in quite some time, we do expect him to be available for questions between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs. We can imagine if the Kings continue to stumble and miss out on the playoffs the discussion will be a lot worse than if they can rebound and hold on to their current playoff spot. Until then, keep it locked right here Kings fans!
