Bruins roster comes to shape as training camp opens

2020-12-02

As the Pre-season begins and camp is underway the Bruins are continuing to construct their roster for the upcoming season through trades and a late signing.

It has been a quiet offseason in Beantown with Covid affecting the world.  The Bruins organization managed to keep their entire hockey ops department and scouting employed and workingm, but unfortunately their Human Relations and Communication department took a hit.  "It was a small way we could save some money.  I feel bad for the people that were affected but they have been promised to be rehired as soon as we were going to start the season.  Thus we are finally getting a publication out in this form today."

A quick recap of the Bruins offseason:  The entry draft occurred just over a month ago and GM Adam O'Blenes turned three picks into two first round selections that netter the team Anton Lundell at 10th overall and Noel Gunler 28th overall.  Both players have strong offensive upside and are expected to compete for their countries at this years WJC being held in Edmonton.  Lundell has started his season on fire and will be a key player for the Finns in Edmonton.  They join what is continuing to be an improving prospect base and young core on which the organization can count compete with.

There wasn't much action within the roster this summer.  The Bruins went hard after one free agent and barely missed out on signing that player and thus moved on to securing their free agents.  Negotiations went very smoothly with all involved, as is the case for the second straight year, and players were able to sign on the line to continue being part of a team with great aspirations this year.  One player that the Bruins have just reached an agreement on is William Lagesson.  He terminated his contract overseas and has decided to sign and make his way over to play in the AHL this season.  Lagesson has offensive upside and strong skating ability.  We'll see how that translates on this side of the pond.

Bruins GM has been busy the past few days and have the potential for a few late deals as camp is underway and exhibition games are taking place.  If they come to fruition there will be some roster movement and a different look with a longtime Bruin coming back for a reunion.

More to come as the preseason gets underway...
