Blue Jackets Hire new GM

2015-05-07

After a few years off from the business of hockey, the owners of the CBJ convinced GM Silverton to come back to work.

"Its great to be back.  It seems to be deja vu for me though as I started GM'ing a young up and coming team like this one.  Now it will be interesting to see if I can get the same results and turn this into a perenial contender."

"Overall, to be truthful, there's alot more work then I thought to be done.  But I'm confident I will have a very productful trade deadline and offseason.  I know which direction to go into, and have some good assets to get to where I want to be."

"I realize 'tis the time for last minute shoppers. Im late in the game, but feel prepared.  I'm sure that the lines will be off the hooks for the next 41 hours.  I'll be letting GMs know that two of my second rounders from the super draft (along with 3rd and 4th rounders) will be made available with other assets, if the situation arises that a young'ish (mid 20s) player who fits our system is available."

"A few players have approached me, with regards to (where the team is at now) and how they feel about the new system  I will put in place.  Obviously some would like a change... but I made it clear that as a business, the needs of the organization is first, but obviously I will try to accomodate them."

"That is all I have for now, as I got 3 new messages during this brief presser... Thank you"
