Flames and Heat extended season.

With the regular season finished for the Calgary Flames and the soon to be Stockton Heat both teams are preparing for the upcoming post season.

This will be the Flames second trip to the post season since the inception of the EHE and the first time for GM Steve since taking over and burning the roster to the ground to start the rebuild. While it’s the 3rd time for the Stockton Heat. This will also possibly be the Heats last season in Stockton, as rumours are circulating they maybe relocated to Calgary for the upcoming 22/23 season.

The Flames ended the season with 94 points, while the Heat ended with 87 points.

As for the Flames, the players are stoked for a chance at the Holy Grail. The first step in the pursuit is to get past the Arizona Coyotes. This won’t be an easy series as they are The President Champs with 119 points and have been to the playoffs 5 times, and for the last four seasons straight. With Gabriel Landeskog leading the team with 35 goals and 79 points, they also have 6 players who have also scored 20 or more goals.

Team Captain Jordan Staal had this to say. “This is an exciting time, we fought the entire season to get here, and GM Steve made some tough decisions to bring in help throughout the season so its all on us now to get out there and win some games. The fans deserve this after all they have gone through the past couple of years. As for Arizona, they can put the puck in the net, but we feel we believe we have the guys in the locker room that keep up with those guys.”

Elias Pettersson commented, “This is my my first time fighting for the cup, I will be taking in the full experience and the fans energy will help us. We just need to stay on top of the desert dogs, and play sound defensive hockey.”

Coach Sutter, “I will not announce a starter, however both Binnington and Allen are more than ready and capable. As for the team overall, we just need to play Flames hockey. Starting on the road is a good thing. We just need to get back to being a good road team like we were in the first half of the season.”

Makar, “This season had its up and downs but we made it. I had a lot of family and friends reach out for tickets to see me play my first playoff game in my home town. I can’t wait to take in the atmosphere when we play that first game at the Saddledome, but we need to take care of business on the road first.”

Bring on the Coyotes in game 1 on Tuesday night.
