Player Participation in Olympics
Player Participation in Olympics
As nations begin to declare their rosters for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, a select few players who are on active EHE rosters will be named as participants. It has been decided that these nominations will be honored in our league, as the majority of these players have a minimal impact on our teams (except perhaps Vegas -- sorry, Doug). If it gets out of hand with a large number of players leaving (which is not expected), alternative ideas will be considered.
As of January 13, 2018, the following players will be deactivated to participate during the Olympics:
Canada
Cody Goloubef (MTL)
Chris Kelly (CGY)
Mason Raymond (LA)
Karl Stollery (SJ)
Christian Thomas (WSH)
Sweden
Viktor Stålberg (DET)
United States
Justin Abdelkader (LA)
Chris Bourque (BUF)
Bobby Butler (ANA)
Brian Gionta (VGK)
John McCarthy (BOS)
While these players are away for the Olympics, they will not count towards your active or organizational roster, nor will they count towards your payroll or be paid, and will not be allowed to be traded, waived, or released. They will be considered as "on bereavement."

Re: Player Participation in Olympics
The Golden Knights are proud to grant a leave for Brian Gionta to chase his Olympic dream.
Side question, if the NHL,wasn't a bunch of money grubbing turds would you have ran an Olympic simulation?

In a perfect world, yes. However, probably not due to the amount of time and preparation that would take. If/when the NHL every does full participation of the Olympics again, there will be some interesting league decisions to be made.Sweet_Doug wrote: ↑Sun. Gionta with a goal tonight in his first game of the year with Rochester. Proud to have him represent the city of Vegas in South Korea.

Re: Player Participation in Olympics
Today was the first day that players returned to their teams from the Olympics.
Re: Player Participation in Olympics
The Winter Olympic Games have begun and many members on active EHE rosters have been named as participants in the men's ice hockey tournament. Unlike the 2018 games, it has been decided that it will be optional for GMs to honor these nominations this time around. A few factors went into this decision but most notably because a) The 2018 tournament basically only had implications on our AHL league and the crop of players this time would actually have an effect on some NHL teams, and b) because I didn't give any fair warning about deactivating any players during the tournament.
As of February 9, 2022, the following players are eligible for temporary deactivation to participate during the Olympics:
Canada
Adam Cracknell (LA)
Jason Demers (VAN)
Josh Ho-Sang (ANA)
Eric Staal (NJ)
Jordan Weal (COL)
Tyler Wotherspoon (NSH)
Finland
Leo Komarov (COL)
Sami Vatanen (COL)
Germany
Dominik Kahun (FLA)
Tobias Rieder (WSH)
Russia... Oh. Sorry... "Russia"
Artem Anisimov (MTL)
Nikita Gusev (DET)
Alexander Yelesin (NJ)
Slovakia
Tomáš Jurčo (NYI)
Sweden
Joakim Nordström (DAL)
United States
Pat Nagle (AZ)
Aaron Ness (NYI)
I'll give GMs until the weekend to decide if they want to deactivate their Olympic players during the tournament. These players would not count towards your active or organizational roster, nor will they count towards your payroll or be paid, and will not be allowed to be traded, waived, or released. They will be considered as "on bereavement" until shortly after their team's final game in the tournament.
If you wish to allow your player to "leave" during the Olympics, please reply in this thread.
