2018 Free Agency: UFA Signing
2018 Free Agency: UFA Signing
All unrestricted free agents are now available to receive contract offers! For this portion of free agency, please refer to the list provided on the website, NOT anything shown on the sim client.
Please also refer to the other free agent links from the RFA/ELC period because there are still some players who are awaiting offer corrections and are not actually unrestricted free agents.

With a deep pool of players to choose from this year, for the first time ever, certain players will be granted exceptional status. These players will be permitted to receive contract offers beyond the league maximum of $10,000,000/season. However, this would begin only if multiple bids are tied at the league maximum at the conclusion of a day. If this occurs, teams will be permitted to continue bidding until if a second maximum bid is reached. This second maximum will not be disclosed publicly to discourage an icarus effect of GMs gunning directly for it and you will also not be made aware in advance of which player(s) will be granted this status. (I'm sure there is one in particular that you can think of who could fit this category.)
The process is still the same as in each year past. Please watch our old UFA tutorial video for instructions of how to use the UFA calculation spreadsheet. The dynamics of this calculator create more fair grounds to sign players without resolving to always requiring a maximum 4-year term in order to sign a player. If you experience an issue where you are unable to edit the spreadsheet, please contact me immediately. You must use this spreadsheet to determine with calculated contract value to use when submitting your offer!
All UFAs require that you pay a minimum yearly amount equal to or greater than the Fair Market Value salary, though similar to Entry-Level Contracts, you may use a signing bonus to lower a player's yearly base salary to be lower than FMV. For more information regarding the maximum signing bonus you may give, please refer to the CBA.
After the end of each day (9:59 PM PDT, excluding Saturdays), the highest offers for any player will be reviewed and then posted to our website. If the same high offer is on the board for two consecutive days (excluding Saturdays), the player will be signed. Additionally, there will be a random 5% chance that a player will accept the highest offer given to them immediately at the end of that day. If you wish to submit a raise on the highest posted offer, the calculated contract value must increase at least 10% for the new offer to be valid.
When you are ready to submit your contract offers, please submit them through the E-MAIL listed in the UFA video. The subject line MUST include the player name and calculated contract value for an offer to be valid! The message inside must include the term, salary, signing bonus, and whether a one-way or two-way contract. If it is not in this exact format, your offer will be considered as voided and ignored!
Any corrections you need to make must be done on the same processing day or your offer will be considered as-is. If you need to make a correct, please send an additional e-mail in the same format you would for any other offer, with ***CORRECTION*** at the end of your subject line.
Once a UFA has ACCEPTED your offer, please use the sim client to sign him to the new contract.
Reminders:
*You may not trade a recently-signed unrestricted free agent until after your 20th regular season game has been completed!
*You may not submit an NHL or two-way contract offer if you have the maximum 51 total active players on your roster at any time.
*You may not submit an NHL or two-way contract offer to a UFA goaltender if you already have 6 or more goalies on your active roster, with the exception of signing one goalie to an AHL contract.

Re: 2018 Free Agency: UFA Signing
Monday, October 15 and Tuesday, October 16 will be considered as ONE free agency day. I will try to review some of the free agent offers on Monday night and notify GMs if an offer is invalid. This is usually not done after the first day, so you are expected to understand how the UFA calculator works and how to submit proper offers.
Re: 2018 Free Agency: UFA Signing
For anyone having difficulty accessing the spreadsheet on Mac, I've uploaded an unlocked version to download. It is still preferred that you use the original copy if possible.
Re: 2018 Free Agency: UFA Signing
If you need to make a correction to an offer, please put *CORRECTION* AFTER the player name on your subject line for sorting purposes. Definitely do not put anything at the very beginning of your subject line other than the player name.
Re: EHE CBA (League Rules)
I have a quick question as I don’t want to break the rules... I need many players at both the NHL and AHL levels... I’m not sure how to interpret a signing rule... As long as I sign a player for less than $1.5 million/yearly, I can send him to the AHL and not have to keep him on the NHL roster for a minimum of twenty games first? (I understand that they may be subject to waivers)
Re: EHE CBA (League Rules)
There is no rule about keeping a player on the NHL roster except for if you claim someone from waivers. You can't trade a signed UFA for a minimum of 20 games.Ducks GM wrote: ↑Tue. You also can most certainly assign a player to the AHL who makes more than $1.5 million per season. The rule states that a player cannot sign a two-way contract for more than $1.5 million.

Re: 2018 Free Agency: UFA Signing
My assumptions would be that if I have submitted an offer to someone who was a UFA yesterday but is now not on the UFA list the "league" has either looked after it in missed RFA or that player was previously franchise tagged so they are now off the UFA list...
Re: 2018 Free Agency: UFA Signing
Correct. That player would have previously received an invalid offer that has since been corrected -or- was a Pittsburgh free agent that has since been signed because Lance has been fired for pulling a Floresco.blues_shaun wrote: ↑Tue. Perfect I will strike those off the list of offers sent, and feel free to put those offers right in the trash bin if you have not done some already

Ah that stinks, Flames were hoping to spend some money on a couple of those guys. Looks like back to the drawing board.Kevin wrote: ↑Tue. Oct. 16, 2018 10:43 amCorrect.
