2015 Salary Cap & Floor Levels
2015 Salary Cap & Floor Levels
It is important that teams be able to use the rosters they drafted in the Inaugual Draft without needing to make a dozen trades just to get compliant in team salary. This is why, up to this point, we were only able to announce provisional salary cap and floor levels. With rosters finalizing, we can now safely announce the official levels for this upcoming season.
The EHE salary cap for the 2015 season will remain at the originally expected total of $64.3 million.
Due to some teams having lower team salary than expected, the salary floor for the 2015 season will be $27 million. Please keep in mind, however, that this concession will not be made going forward. Next season, the floor will rise to at least $30 million.

Damn, that's awfully low for the cap floor haha. I guess you have no choice because of the way some teams were built.

100% agree we try to be as close to real as the NHL and we do that on all rules but the cap floor. There are a few teams that are unreal low and disrupt the completive balance. But that's another story for another day.Dream Walker wrote:doesnt seem fair.

How is it that a team can be 37 Million under the Cap when their whole org isn't even equal to that. The cap Floor should be something more like 40 and the minimum. 27 Mil floor makes it that why even bother to have a floor. I just don't understand how we try to follow the rules to real life as possible. With being able to move contracts to how we see fit some teams can maintain their low cap for several years down the line. Just a shame that so many get to exploit this low cap.

Re: Salary Cap & Floor Levels
I totally agree here.
There is a reason for cap world in hockey.
But there is a valid argument that teams would have drafted differently if they knew that cap floor would be like real NHL.
Two sides of this story my friends. Im pretty sure we just need to go by this 27 mil or something floor this year but next year it should be up to 40 not 30 mil. That 3 mil doesnt change much. And teams have year two get into balance.
Some drafted only veterans to trade them for "Cup teams". Some drafter youngsters so they can suck and get better picks in first years and then develop in next several years. Again two sides.
I totally understand that this year cap floor should be low but next year increase must be higher than 3mil.
My two cents here.

Re: Salary Cap & Floor Levels
I believe that there should be a minimum outlay of cash, despite salaries.
If for this year we need to keep the salary cap floor low, fine. But teams below the salary cap should have to give cash to the league to ensure they spend at least to a realistic (NHL level) cap floor. I'm concerned about teams hording cash more than I am about competitive balance for this year.

Nobody said it wouldn't.Dream Walker wrote:I totally understand that this year cap floor should be low but next year increase must be higher than 3mil.
I believe your concern is well-founded. Although it will be less extreme with it being a shortened season this year, it is something that will definitely be monitored.mediator88 wrote:I believe that there should be a minimum outlay of cash, despite salaries.
