Visit Beautiful Ohio
2018-10-17Ahead of EHE free agency Blue Jackets GM Andrew Payeur met with reporters to discuss the team's plans for the coming weeks. Payeur announced that even with just approximately $6 million to spend in cap space he plans to lure some top free agents to the city. "I fully expect us to land Doughty, Chara, Rinne and probably another big name, maybe Pacioretty" said the delusional executive. When asked how he planned to fit them all under the cap in what is sure to be the highest spending EHE free agency event to date Payeur responded "I plan to sign them all to bargain contracts, well below market value by promoting an opportunity to win and by promoting this great city. Think Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne going to Colorado. It worked out for them!"
One local reporter asked Payeur what aspects about the city he planned on pushing to prospective free agents to which the GM responded "Well I'm glad you asked..." And then he rolled in a projector with a PowerPoint presentation loaded up. The slide show listed some of the top attractions of the city:
1. THE Ohio State University - yes, literally going to school
2. The Columbus Zoo - the closest zoo to where Harambee lived
3. Many parks - yay! outside! (Not available in winter months)
4. Driving distance to other, more interesting cities
5. The Wagner-Hagans Auto museum - literally just some guys garage who owns cool shit
Special thanks to Doug for the article photo!
**Apologies to any fellow GMs who live in/ were born in Columbus and think it's a great place.
