Flames Trade

2021-02-05

The Calgary Flames are proud to announce the acquisition of Patrick Marleau. In a record breaking time GM Steve connected acquired Marleau from the Pittsburgh Penguins for Wayne Simmonds and cash considerations. As the season progressed and watching the guys perform well, it became clear that GM Steve had to make a move to add some experience and leadership to the team. With an abundance of right wings it made sense to make a move to add balance to the team on the left wing. While the team has other vets Marleau brings a presence, experience, and calm demeanor that will help the guys in the locker room and on the ice as they continue to push for a playoff spot.

Currently the Flames currently sit 1st in the Pacific Division and 6th overall in the league with 28 points after 22 games. Only trailing current reigning Cup Champs the Dallas Stars by only 5 points.

We would like to thank Wayne Simmonds for his contributions during his brief stay in Calgary and wish him the best with the Penguins.

Welcome to the team Patrick.
